Platforms, PC Port and Performance
Marvel's Wolverine is a PS5 exclusive, PS5 Pro Enhanced, with no PS4 or PC version as of Nov 8, 2026. It defaults to a 60fps Performance mode with ray tracing, uses PSSR upscaling on PS5 Pro and, since update 1.002.000, Sony's QSSR upscaler on the base PS5.
Marvel's Wolverine runs only on PlayStation 5, and it plays at 60 frames per second with ray tracing in its default Performance mode on every PS5. Digital Foundry's Oct 3, 2026 comparison puts the versions in three steps: the base PS5's original 60fps Performance mode, the same mode with Sony's new QSSR upscaler (added in update 1.002.000), which "looks significantly cleaner", and the PS5 Pro, which renders from higher base resolutions to a higher output with its PSSR upscaler. There is no PS4 version, and as of Nov 8, 2026 no PC version has been announced; a March 2026 Bloomberg report said Sony did not plan one. Patch history beyond graphics is on Patches and Updates; the hardware bundles are on Editions and Price.

Which platforms is Marvel's Wolverine on?
PlayStation 5 only. The official page lists PS5 with the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label, DualSense vibration and trigger effects, Remote Play, offline single player and cloud streaming for PlayStation Plus Premium members on PS5 and PS Portal. Streaming means a Premium member who owns the game can play it without downloading it. A PS Portal owner can play it either by Remote Play from their own PS5 or by cloud streaming.
It is not on PS4. Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 skipped PS4 too, and Wolverine was designed from the start around ray-traced reflections (see below), which a PS4 could not run.
Is Marvel's Wolverine coming to PC?
Not as far as anyone has announced. As of Nov 8, 2026 there is no Steam or Epic Games Store page and no word from Sony or Insomniac. In March 2026, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that Sony had decided not to bring its single-player PS5 exclusives, Wolverine among them, to PC, while his sources warned that the plans were "constantly evolving". That is a report, not an announcement, and Sony has neither confirmed nor denied it.
Insomniac's earlier games point the other way. Every Spider-Man game reached PC with Nixxes Software's help: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on Aug 12, 2022, Miles Morales later that year and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on Jan 30, 2025, about 15 months after its PS5 launch.
| Game | PS5 or PS4 launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marvel's Spider-Man (Remastered on PC) | Sep 7, 2018 (PS4) | Aug 12, 2022 | About 4 years |
| Marvel's Spider-Man 2 | Oct 20, 2023 | Jan 30, 2025 | About 15 months |
| Marvel's Wolverine | Sep 15, 2026 | Not announced |
Our prediction: we think Sony announces a PC version of Marvel's Wolverine, but not before 2028, because Bloomberg's report describes a policy that kept single-player exclusives off PC for now, and the Spider-Man 2 gap was already the shortest Insomniac has had. We would check that call at the end of 2028. More on Predictions.
What about the "PC build" online?
An unofficial "PC build" assembled from files leaked after the December 2023 ransomware attack on Insomniac has been reported by PC gaming sites. It is a leak, not a port: Sony and Insomniac had nothing to do with it, and this viki does not treat it as a version of the game. A YouTube video titled "PC Version Canceled" is also not a source; nothing official was ever announced to cancel. The attack itself is on Insomniac Games.
Performance and Fidelity modes
Insomniac made Performance the default, running at 60fps with ray tracing on a base PS5, "for the first time for us in one of our games", because the studio considered the frame rate important to the presentation. Fidelity mode trades the frame rate for a sharper image. Digital Foundry's Oliver Mackenzie built his comparison shots with the game's level select on a finished save, and in the Performance mode he found the original upscaler, Insomniac's IGTI, showing "pixel popping and crawl" on foliage and fences, flicker on a fire truck's specular highlights and ghosting on water, all of which QSSR cleans up.
Ray tracing is not optional here. In the same video, Mackenzie calls Wolverine "basically just an RT reflections game from the start", designed without the fallback reflections Spider-Man 2 was originally also built with, and says those reflections were "not super clean on base PS5" before QSSR. That is why there is no mode without ray tracing.
Digital Foundry's launch Tech Review (Sep 10, 2026) measured each mode's resolution on PS5 and PS5 Pro. We could not read its transcript for this page, and the second-hand summaries of it disagree on the PS5 Pro numbers, so this page does not quote them; a Polish report of the review gives about 1296p at 60fps in Performance and about 1800p at 30fps in Fidelity on the base PS5, which we list as reported, not confirmed.
What is QSSR?
QSSR is Sony's machine-learning upscaler for the base PS5, and Marvel's Wolverine got it in update 1.002.000 in early October 2026, switched on by default. It can be toggled in the graphics menu, and Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter recommends doing exactly that: "the menu system has an on-off toggle, so you can actually look at the changes yourself in real time", and in the Knock Knock mission's cutscene with Tyger, the shimmering in her clothing on the old upscaler is "cleaned up significantly" with QSSR on.
It is not free. Mackenzie's pixel counts found QSSR's internal resolutions slightly lower than the old upscaler's, because the model costs more to run on the base PS5, which lacks the Pro's machine-learning hardware; he expects its output to be 1440p, not 4K. His conclusion is that the image quality gain "more than outweighs" the lower internal resolution. We agree with leaving it on: we would rather have a slightly softer, stable image than the shimmer on fences and hair the old upscaler showed.
How does it run on PS5 Pro?
Best of the three. On PS5 Pro the game uses PSSR, renders at "much higher" internal resolutions "across the board" and reaches a 4K output, which Leadbetter calls "absolutely pristine in a way that neither of the base PlayStation 5 versions are". Pro owners also get an Advanced RT option for more ray tracing; second-hand reports of the Digital Foundry review put its cost at about 3 to 4fps in tested scenes, which we have not confirmed.
GamingBolt's reviewer finished the whole game on a PS5 Pro in the Performance Pro mode with Advanced Ray Tracing switched on and reports that "performance was excellent throughout", with "a few very minor drops", very fast loading and only rare bugs.
| PS5 (before 1.002.000) | PS5 with QSSR | PS5 Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Default mode | Performance, 60fps, RT | Performance, 60fps, RT | Performance Pro, 60fps, RT |
| Upscaler | Insomniac's IGTI | Sony QSSR | Sony PSSR |
| Internal resolution | Base | Slightly lower than base | Much higher |
| Output | About 1440p in Performance | About 1440p | 4K |
| Extra | Advanced RT option |
The table is Vi.ki's summary of Digital Foundry's Oct 3, 2026 comparison and GamingBolt's review; the output figures are Digital Foundry's expectation from pixel counts, not Insomniac's own numbers.
Which mode should you use?
We think Performance, on every console. The combat is built on parries and dodges with split-second warnings (see Combat and Rage), and 60fps makes those windows easier to read; Insomniac itself made it the default. Use Fidelity only for photo mode and slow exploration, where the extra detail shows: in the studio's 2025 featurette, the team boasts of a level of detail where "you can see pores. You can see blood in between the little lines of his teeth." On a base PS5, keep QSSR on. On a PS5 Pro, try Advanced RT; if you notice the frame rate dip in big fights, turn it off before you turn anything else down. Settings for difficulty, gore and the scent trails are on Difficulty Settings and Accessibility.

Patches and UpdatesMarvel's Wolverine has had five updates as of Nov 8, 2026, from day-one patch 1.001.004 on Sep 15 to 1.002.001 on Oct 6. Most of them answer one complaint, the blue scent trails (dimmed in 1.001.005, made optional for collectibles in 1.001.006, moved behind the R3 hint button for the story in 1.002.001), while 1.002.000 brought Sony's QSSR upscaling to the base PS5.

Editions and PriceMarvel's Wolverine costs $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, which adds five suits, five claws and three Technique Points. As of Nov 8, 2026 the Deluxe Edition is on sale for $59.99 in the US PlayStation Store until Nov 21, cheaper than the Standard. -
PredictionsWe think Marvel's Wolverine gets no story DLC, and that its sequel, not shown before 2028, makes the figure from the post-credits scene its villain and gives Jean Grey a playable part.
-
Insomniac GamesMarvel's Wolverine was made by Insomniac Games, the Burbank studio behind Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man, owned by Sony since 2019; it was revealed in 2021 under Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, finished under game director Mike Daly, and survived a 2023 ransomware attack that leaked part of its development.
-
Combat and RageMarvel's Wolverine is a close-range, parry-driven brawler: claws, kicks, a gap-closing leap and cooldown-based Special Techniques, held together by a Rage meter with three tiers. Rage Tier 2 unlocks Last Stand, the revive that stands in for the Healing Factor, and Tier 3 turns the screen gray and makes weak enemies die in one hit.

Difficulty Settings and AccessibilityMarvel's Wolverine has five difficulty presets, from The Man (Logan cannot be knocked out) through The Hunter, The Mutant and The Weapon to The Best There Is, plus custom sliders for enemy aggressiveness, damage and health. Difficulty can be changed at any time and no trophy depends on it. Over 100 accessibility settings include game speed down to 30%, Skip Puzzle, QTE autocomplete, audio description and violence filters.
