Sentinel Prototype Boss Fight
The Sentinel Prototype is the second boss of Marvel's Wolverine, fought in Mission 11, For Our Future, in Madripoor's Hightown. Dodge its arm crushes a beat late, attack the arm while it rests on the ground, run from the lasers, call Mystique with R1 to stagger it, and tear off one arm indoors and the other outside.
To beat the Sentinel Prototype in Marvel's Wolverine, dodge or parry each arm crush, then attack the arm while it rests on the ground, because the arm is the target, not the robot's body. It is the second boss, fought in Mission 11, For Our Future, and TheGamer's Sep 18, 2026 boss guide by Nick Rivera describes every opening the same way: the right arm crushes down, usually twice, then stays on the ground long enough to strike. In AFGuidesHD's Sep 14, 2026 recording of every boss, the game calls out "Panel destroyed" as those hits land on the arm.

Where the Sentinel fight happens
For Our Future ends the first Madripoor chapter in Hightown, at the top of Trask Tower. In AFGuidesHD's recording, Trask taunts Logan that he "didn't see what this thing could do in Vancouver", and the machine powers up with "Mutant detected. Exterminate." The walk to the arena is on the Madripoor walkthrough; who Trask is, and why he builds Sentinels, is on Characters.
IGN Guides' Sep 16, 2026 Madripoor walkthrough reaches the same moment, with Trask introducing "humanity's protector" as the robot switches on. TheGamer describes what you are facing: a prototype with only an upper body, whose attack timing is "some of the least forgiving in the game". The PlayStation Blog's Aug 13, 2026 preview said the fight needs "patience and strategy", and both halves bear that out: the robot mostly stands at the edge of the arena and you wait for its arms to come to you.
Phase 1 (indoors): the right arm
The Sentinel's attacks land later than you expect. TheGamer's advice is to parry or dodge "a beat later than what feels natural", because a dodge made too early lets the robot adjust and hit you anyway. Which dodge matters too: in Arekkz Gaming's Sep 16, 2026 combat tips, a single press of Circle is a short hop that suits smaller attacks, while a double press is a longer dodge roll, which "some of the bigger attacks", especially in boss fights, require. We think the arm crushes are the place to use the roll.
TheGamer lists the indoor move set: crush attacks from the right arm, usually in pairs, after which the arm rests on the ground; a sweep from the left arm; an eye laser; missiles; dual-fist punches; and a fast punch followed by a crush that leaves the arm open. KeenGamer's Sep 17, 2026 boss guide by Solomon Jackson adds the target: hitting the exposed arm tears through the exterior to the cables, which builds stagger. Retreat when a new attack sequence starts, and come back when a limb is down again.
The laser comes with a warning. In AFGuidesHD's recording, "Laser online" sounds just before the beam, and the lasers cannot be parried, per TheGamer and Game Rant: run from them. When they stop, move back in on the arm. Game Rant's Sep 15, 2026 boss guide by Jake Fillery and KeenGamer agree on the key move: when both arms are close to the robot's body and the prompt appears, press R1 and Mystique staggers it at once. The same recording then reports "System overrun" and "Internal system damage" as the damage adds up.
Trask keeps arguing his case over the fight in AFGuidesHD's recording, from the grocery store that blows up to "I will save lives". Repeat the cycle (crushes, arm, laser, Mystique) until the Sentinel leaves its fist on the ground; TheGamer says to press Triangle then and cut the arm off in a quick-time event, and a cutscene chases Logan outside.
Phase 2 (outdoors): the left arm
Outside, the target is the remaining left arm and the rhythm is the same. Logan is not alone: in AFGuidesHD's recording Sabretooth arrives ("big enough for you, Victor?") with "Let's rip this tin can open", and Reavers join the fight around them. Sabretooth jokes about losing "the other arm", which is the plan: the second arm comes off the same way as the first.
The new danger outside is the rocket barrage. In AFGuidesHD's recording the call is "Incoming. Take cover." TheGamer says the missiles cover a whole section of the floor, so run out of it, then dodge or parry the crush that follows at once; KeenGamer's rule is that survival comes before extra damage here. The lasers are no longer a constant beam, per TheGamer.
"Double punch", the game warns in the same recording. TheGamer notes that outdoors the punch hits twice before a forearm crush, so wait for the second hit before you move in on the arm.
Sabretooth's help is more than company. In IGN Guides' walkthrough he arrives here and calls for cover while Reavers close in; TheGamer describes him throwing a Reaver APC to block a massive laser, then prompting you to let him throw Logan at the Sentinel for extra damage. Keep attacking after that until a cutscene with several quick-time events ends the fight.
The finish comes with "End it now" and Trask's "for our future" in AFGuidesHD's recording, the line the mission is named for. Kicked the Bucket unlocks with the win.
Attacks to dodge or parry
| Attack | Phase | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Right-arm crush (usually twice) | 1 | Dodge or parry a beat late, then hit the arm while it rests |
| Fast punch, then a crush | 1 | Avoid both; the crush leaves the arm open |
| Left-arm sweep | 1 | Dodge |
| Eye laser | Both | Cannot be parried: run, then go back to the arm |
| Both arms close to the body | Both | R1: Mystique staggers it at once |
| Missile barrage | Mostly 2 | Run out of the marked area, then answer the crush that follows |
| Double punch, then a forearm crush | 2 | Wait for the second hit, then attack the arm |
| Fist left on the ground | Both | Triangle to cut the arm off |

Recommended skills
Mission 11 is still early, and the fight is about timing and the R1 call more than about Techniques. Per GamingBolt's Special Techniques guide, Relentless unlocks at level 7, which by this point many players have, and it heals while it hits. We think the R1 Mystique call is worth more than any Technique here: hold it until the robot has just finished a laser or a missile barrage, so the stagger lands when the arm is in reach. The trees are on Skills: Techniques and Adaptations.
Is the Sentinel Prototype fight too long?
IGN's Sep 10, 2026 review thought so: it calls it "a Sentinel Showdown that essentially boils down to whacking a metal arm for 15 minutes", the kind of boss "where your towering target mostly sits just outside of the arena". We agree it is the weakest of the five fights, but it is shorter if you follow the pattern above: most of the length comes from dodging too early, getting hit, and missing the arm's rests.
