Locations

Marvel's Wolverine travels through four regions in a fixed order: the jungles of Telambang, the Canadian wilds and Vancouver, the island nation of Madripoor (Hightown and Lowtown, with the Princess Bar), and Japan (Tokyo, Shinjuku and Mount Haku), then back to Madripoor for the last nine missions. It is linear, not open world, with Logan's mind cabin as the place to replay missions.

Marvel's Wolverine takes Logan through four regions: "the neon-lit Shinjuku in Japan, the island of Madripoor, the jungles of Telambang, and the wintry wilds of Canada", as Liam McIntyre lists them in the Game Features trailer, along with the halls of the Essex Institute and a drink at the Princess Bar. The order in play is Telambang, Canada, Madripoor, Japan, then Madripoor again for the finale. Each region is a run of linear missions rather than an open map; game director Mike Daly told IGN the game is linear and "globe-trotting", unlike Insomniac's open-world Spider-Man games. This page covers what each place is and which missions use it; the steps through them are on the Walkthrough and Mission List.

Quick facts

Regions Telambang, Canada, Madripoor, Japan (then Madripoor again)
Structure Linear missions, no open world
Missions per region Telambang 3, Canada 5, Madripoor 4, Japan 9, Madripoor 9 (PowerPyx)
Hub Lowtown, Madripoor, with the Princess Bar run by Tyger
Team X home A base in the Yukon with Walter's lab
Replay Logan's mind cabin (the Nightmare Cabin): Mission Select and Nightmare Trials
Largest region Japan and the return to Madripoor, nine missions each

Where every mission takes place

The regions are PowerPyx's (Sep 14, 2026) and the areas KeenGamer's (Sep 18, 2026). The two guides agree on all 30 missions and their order.

Missions Region Areas
1 to 3 Telambang The jungle (Back in Action), Trask Outpost (A Debt Repaid), Trask Compound (Last Meal)
4 to 8 Canada Yukon (Homecoming, Strays, Something Much Stronger), Vancouver (The One That Got Away, Raise Some Hell)
9 to 12 Madripoor Hightown (Knock Knock, Mutant Detected, For Our Future), Lowtown (One Last Mission)
13 to 21 Japan Over Tokyo (Jetlag, a fight on a plane), Shinjuku (Get Angry to We Were Wrong), Mount Haku (Hell Followed With Him, Death's Match, Sinister Tidings)
22 to 30 Madripoor Lowtown (most), Hightown (Roll The Dice); Mission 29, No Coming Back, is listed under Shinjuku by KeenGamer but grouped with Madripoor by PowerPyx

We have not settled Mission 29's setting from play, so both guides' answers stand. The bosses fought in these places are on Bosses.

Telambang

The game opens in the jungles of Telambang, where Team X raids Bolivar Trask's operation to rescue Nathaniel Essex. The three missions move from the jungle to a Trask outpost and then his compound, where Logan meets Omega Red (Telambang Walkthrough (Missions 1 to 3), Omega Red Boss Fight). The PlayStation Blog's Aug 13, 2026 hands-on describes Trask's hidden facility here. Launch-day update 1.001.004 fixed a bug where Logan would not slide under a prison door in Telambang (Patches and Updates).

Canada: the Yukon and Vancouver

Canada is Logan's homecoming. In IGN Guides' Sep 15, 2026 walkthrough of the Canada missions, Homecoming opens at Team X's base in the Yukon, where Walter (the mutant Sasquatch) greets "the prodigal son" and takes him to his lab. The base is run down ("this place is a mess"), and it is where Walter later builds Logan a new suit from supplies Logan fetches from the store room (Suits and Claws).

The same mission introduces Logan's cabin, a place in his mind that the game uses as its replay menu. IGN Guides' chapter note calls it the "mind" cabin "where you can replay missions and do Nightmare Trials"; the Game Features trailer calls it "Logan's mind cabin". It is the Nightmare Cabin of the guides, and its uses are on New Game Plus and Mission Replay and Nightmare Doors and Trials.

The team's next lead is North Vancouver, where Trask is "hunting mutants" with technology "to detect mutants" beyond their own. Essex warns that "Vancouver is tricky": the city is already hot, and mutants cannot advertise that they exist.

The One That Got Away, Mission 5, is the city mission most people have seen: it is the Jun 2, 2026 extended gameplay video, in which Reavers search an industrial park for "the redhead" (Jean Grey) while Logan stalks them. The Canada chapter also holds the motorcycle highway chase (trophy Road Rage), a refinery approached up a cliff, Callisto's garage in Vancouver (trophy Greased, for reading her journal there) and a Trask facility where, as Logan tells Essex in IGN Guides' run, "Trask is building robots" fitted with mutant detectors. Details are on Canada Walkthrough (Missions 4 to 8).

Madripoor: Hightown and Lowtown

Madripoor, the island nation from the comics, is the game's center. Lowtown is the mutant quarter and the closest thing to a hub: in IGN's Aug 13, 2026 preview, Logan "wanders through Lowtown, which is a bit of a safe haven for mutants", talks to other mutants, arm-wrestles Sabretooth, plays Never Have I Ever with Mystique and finds Easter eggs (Spider-Man Connections and Easter Eggs). The Princess Bar there is run by Tyger (Tyger Tiger), per the PlayStation Blog's Aug 13, 2026 hands-on, and it is where Logan drinks between missions.

Hightown is the wealthy side. GamingBolt's Sep 10, 2026 review notes that one mission gives "a larger section of Madripoor to move through", tracking enemies with Logan's senses, where another in Canada leans on "climbing, platforming, and stealth". Hightown holds Knock Knock, Mutant Detected and For Our Future, with the Sentinel Prototype at its end (Sentinel Prototype Boss Fight); later, Roll The Dice sends Logan to a Hightown casino in his Patch disguise. The Essex Institute, Nathaniel Essex's center for mutants, is named in the features trailer as a place to walk between missions.

The return to Madripoor, Missions 22 to 30, keeps mostly to Lowtown and is where the story ends (Return to Madripoor Walkthrough (Missions 22 to 30)). Its places and what happens to them are spoilers we leave to Ending Explained.

Japan: Tokyo, Shinjuku and Mount Haku

Japan is the longest chapter, nine missions. Skill Up's Sep 10, 2026 review describes "basically the entire game's second act" as spent there, a story arc with "side quest energy" in which Team X falls into the background "while Logan and Jean square off against the Hand and their leader Lady Deathstrike". It begins with Jetlag, a fight on a plane over Tokyo (trophies Crash Course and Ground Control), moves through the neon streets of Shinjuku for five missions, and climbs to Mount Haku, where Lady Deathstrike waits in Death's Match (Lady Deathstrike Boss Fight, Japan Walkthrough (Missions 13 to 21)). Skill Up also noticed a change in the furniture: in Japan, the XP Caches Logan smashes are red lanterns rather than Trask's energy crates.

How big are the levels?

Every region is a series of linear levels. IGN's Sep 10, 2026 review describes "corridors opening up into arenas", and Skill Up found side paths that fork "a few meters" to a crate. The largest open spaces are the Madripoor streets and the Canadian wilderness. We think the game's structure is closer to Uncharted than to Insomniac's Spider-Man, and that the locations are its best-looking feature: Shinjuku at night and the Canadian snow are where the PS5's ray-traced reflections earn their keep (Platforms, PC Port and Performance).

What we think

We think Madripoor is the location the game will be remembered for: the first time the comics' lawless island has been a full place to walk in a big-budget game, with Lowtown as a quiet counterweight to the fights. Japan is the weakest stretch for pacing, as Skill Up says, but the most varied visually. We expect any story DLC or sequel to keep Madripoor as its hub (Predictions).

Frequently asked questions

Is Marvel's Wolverine open world?

No. It is a linear action game made of missions in four regions, with Lowtown as a small hub.

Where is Madripoor?

Madripoor is a fictional island nation in Southeast Asia from Marvel's comics. In the game it has a wealthy Hightown and a mutant Lowtown.

What is the cabin in Marvel's Wolverine?

Logan's mind cabin, which the guides call the Nightmare Cabin: the menu space where you replay missions and run Nightmare Trials.

Can you go back to earlier locations?

Yes. After the story, Mission Select in the cabin replays any mission with its collectibles (Collectibles).

What is the Princess Bar?

Tyger's bar in Lowtown, Madripoor, where Logan drinks and talks between missions.
